Utah Simplex
I really enjoy simplex operation. There is something about having a radio to radio conversation that is satisfying to me. That being said, in Utah, there are some guidelines to using simplex that reduce repeater interferance and allow everyone to use simplex.
- 156.520 and 446.000 are national calling freqencies and are reserved for simplex operation. If you are going to have a long conversation, consider moving to another frequency in case someone else needs to call out.
- Do not plan scheduled nets on these frequencies
- Do not use a Hotspot or other digital bridge on these frequencies
- Do not operate a crossband repeater on these frequencies
- 145.670 has been widely used nationwide for D-Star simplex. If you need to use this for anything other than D-Star, please use a lower power as to not cause interferance to others.
- 438.4625, 438.475, 438.500, and 438.5125 are requested for digital modes only. Similar to the D-Star simplex, please use a lower power if you need to use these frequencies.
- 438.450 and 438.525 are reserved for lower power devices such as hotspots and dongles.
